Appleton Attorney Named Chair of Lawrence University Board of Trustees
APPLETON, WIS. -- Appleton attorney Jeffrey Riester has been elected chair of the Lawrence University Board of Trustees. He succeeds Harold Jordan, who had served as chair since 1999.
Riester, who graduated from Appleton High School and earned a bachelor's degree in history from Lawrence in 1970, is the manager of the Appleton office of the law firm Godfrey & Kahn, SC. He joined the Lawrence board of trustees in 1985, serving most recently as vice chair of both the board and the executive committee.
During his tenure, Riester also has served as a member of the audit and budget, buildings and grounds, development and student affairs committees and was vice chair of the committee on trustees. From 1998-2000, he served as the trustee liaison to the college's Task Force on Residential Life.
William Hochkammer, Jr., a native of Manitowoc and a trustee since 1993, has been named vice chair of the board. A 1966 Lawrence graduate with a degree in economics, Hochkammer is a partner in the Detroit law firm of Honigman, Miller, Schwartz and Cohn.
J. Terrence Franke and Overton Parrish have been named to the board as term trustees. Franke, a 1968 Lawrence graduate, is principal of Hewitt Associates in Lincolnshire, Ill. Parrish, who graduated from Lawrence in 1955, is president and chief executive officer of Phoenix Health Care in Chicago. Both have served previously on the board as alumni trustees.
G. Craig Christensen, Bonnie Bryant Hiller and Campbell Scott have have been elected to four-year terms on the board as alumni trustees.
Christensen, a 1971 graduate, is a partner in Semper Development Ltd. in Minneapolis, Minn. Bryant, who graduated in 1968, is a noted children's book author in New York City. Scott, a 1983 graduate, is an actor and director in Bronxville, New York.
