Lawrence University's Muggli Awarded $5,000 Udall Scholarship

APPLETON. WIS. -- For the third time in four years a Lawrence University student has been named a Udall Scholar. Junior Clara Muggli was one of 80 students nationally recently awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Morris K. Udall Scholarship and Excellence in National Environmental Policy Foundation.

Muggli, an environmental studies major, is active in Greenfire, Lawrence's student environmental organization, and has played a lead role in the planning of the campus' annual Earth Day Festival. She is a 1999 graduate of Decorah (Iowa) High School.

Among Lawrence recipients, Muggli joins Jake Brenner and Gustavo Setrini, who were awarded Udall Scholarships in 1999 and 2001, respectively.

Each year, the Udall Foundation awards undergraduate scholarships to American students in fields related to the environment. The foundation was established by Congress in 1992 to honor Morris Udall's 30-year career in the U.S. House of Representatives and his commitment to preservation of the nation's natural environment.
