Lawrence University's Gilbert Elected President of State Library Association

APPLETON, WIS. -- Peter Gilbert, director of instructional technology and reference librarian at Lawrence University, has been elected president of the Wisconsin Library Association. He will serve as the organization's vice-president for the coming year and then begin a 12-month term as president in January, 2003.

The WLA, with more than 2,000 members from public, school, academic and special libraries throughout the state, works toward improving and promoting library and information service within the Wisconsin library community.

As president, Gilbert will oversee all business meetings of the WLA, be responsible for preparation and implementation of the association's annual budget, act as the primary spokesperson for the association and serve as a liaison officer between the association and other official bodies.

Gilbert joined the Lawrence library faculty in 1990. He earned a bachelor's degree in English from Carleton College and a master's degree in library and information studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
