E-mail Account

ITS will provide an e-mail account for student organizations on LU’s e-mail server. To request creation of an e-mail account, complete a Student Organization E-Mail Address Application. To request modification to an existing account, complete a Change Application.

Access your organization's e-mail account:
Follow these instructions to access the e-mail account via a shared e-mail folder from your personal LU e-mail account. (First, be sure that you do not already have a folder in your mailbox with the name of the organization. If you do, rename the folder before beginning the instructions.)

  1. Open and login to WebMail as usual
  2. Click on Settings
  3. Click on Subscription
  4. In the "Alias Name" field type the name of the e-mail account. (Enter only the name; do not include @lawrence.edu.)
  5. In the "Foreign Mailbox Name" field type: ~shared-mailboxes/alias name
  6. The mailbox will appear in your list of folders
    Important Note: This is a shared e-mail folder and it is likely that more than one person will have access to it.  If one person deletes an e-mail, it will be gone for everyone.


Electronic Mailing List

To request creation of an electronic mailing list, complete a Student Organization Electronic Mailing List Application. To request modification to an existing list, complete a Change of Ownership Application.

Manage your organization's electronic mailing list:

  1. Open and login to WebMail
  2. Click on Folders
  3. Locate your organization's folder; to the right of the folder name will be List
  4. Click on List
  5. Click on Subscription
  6. To add a person, enter the e-mail address in the "Single User" field and click on Subscribe. To remove a person, select their e-mail address from the list and click on Unsubscribe.

Website & Blog

Student organizations are encouraged to create a web presence. To request creation of a website, complete the Student Organization Website Application. To request access changes to an existing website, complete the Additional Student Access Application. To request creation of a blog, complete the Student Organization Blog Application. To request access changes to an existing blog, complete the Additional Student Publishing Access Application.
