Student Instructions for Connecting to the Unencrypted Wireless Network:
ITS strongly recommends that all students use Secure Wireless.
If you choose to connect to the unencrypted wireless network, you may do so by following the instructions below - based on your operating system.
Windows Vista:
- Go to the Start menu and click Connect to.
- A Connect to a network window will appear. Select LUstudent and click Connect.
- Open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. Select Continue to this website (not recommended).
- Enter your LU username and password, and click Submit.
Windows XP:
- Go to the Start menu. Click Settings and then Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel menu, select Network Connections. Right click on Wireless Network Connection. Select View Available Wireless Network.
- A Wireless Network Connection window will appear. Select LUstudent and click Connect.
- Your operating system may warn you that you are about to connect to an unsecured network. Click the Connect Anyway button.
- You will be informed that your wireless network interface is acquiring an IP address. After you have successfully acquired an IP address, the status value for LUstudent will change to Connected. You may close the Wireless Network Connection window.
- Open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. A Security Alert will appear. Click Yes to accept the security certificate and proceed.
- Enter your LU username and password, and click Submit.
Macintosh OS X:
- Go to Macintosh HD and open Applications. Locate and open Internet Connect.
- An Internet Connect window will appear. Click the AirPort icon.
- From the Network drop-down menu, select LUstudent.
- Click Yes if you would like to automatically join the unsecure wireless network in the future.
- Open a web browser, such as Safari or Firefox. At the security prompt click Continue.
- Enter your LU username and password, and click Submit.
