The following instructions will assist you in redirecting ALL your e-mail messages from the Lawrence mail server to another personal e-mail account (such as G-Mail or Yahoo mail). Redirecting your mail is preferable over forwarding your mail. **Please note: 1) If the personal e-mail account you redirect your mail to is deactivated or cancelled at any time, you may not be able to recover your mail from the Lawrence mail server, and 2) Redirection will NOT allow you to see or reply to recipients of a received e-mail message other than yourself. This is another reason why ITS specifically recommends that all students use webmail.**
Redirect E-mail Messages from Exchange via Webmail (Outlook Web Access):
- Open Internet Explorer and go to http://webmail.lawrence.edu/.
Important Note: Other browsers, such as Firefox or Safari, employ the "Light" version of webmail and will not work for this process. You must use Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher on a Windows computer; only Internet Explorer enables use of the full webmail program. (If you have a Mac, simply log in to a Windows computer in the ITC or another lab on campus and then complete these steps.) - Enter your username and password to log in.
- On the top right corner, select Options.
- Beneath Options, click Rules.
- Click on New Rule and select Create a new rule for arriving messages.
- A new pop up window will open.
- Under Do the following, select Forward or redirect...
- Check the box next to Redirect the message to people or distribution lists.
- Again under Do the following, select Move, copy, or delete…
- Check the box next to Delete the message. (Note: If you want to keep a copy of your email in the Lawrence Webmail, do not check this box).
- Click the underlined words people or distribution lists in the Rule Description.
- A new pop up window will open.
- At the bottom, under Message recipients, type in the e-mail address where you want all your e-mail messages to be directed.
- Click OK and the window will close.
- Click Save on the previous window and that window will close as well.
- Now under Rules you should see a new rule where my name is in the To or Cc Box.
