Mac Mail

NOTE: The below IMAP instructions allow access to mail only. ITS recommends webmail.

OS 10.5:

  1. Mail, Preferences, Accounts
  2. Click the Plus sign in lower left
  3. Enter Full Name, Email Address, & Password.  Click Continue
  4. Account Type: IMAP, Description: Lawrence Email, Incoming Mail Server: mail.lawrence.edu, network username and password. Click Continue.
  5. (Outgoing mail server) Description: Lawrence Server, Outgoing Mail Server: mail.lawrence.edu.  Check Use Authentication and enter network username and password.  Click Continue.
  6. (Outgoing mail security) Check Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).  Authentication: Password.  Click Continue.
  7. Click Create.

OS 10.4:

  1. Mail, Preferences, Accounts
  2. Click the Plus sign in lower left
  3. Account Type: IMAP, Account Description: Lawrence Email, Full Name, Email Address.  Click Continue.
  4. Incoming Mail Server: mail.lawrence.edu, Network username and password.  Click Continue.
  5. Check Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), Authentication: Password.
  6. (Outgoing mail server) Description: Lawrence Server, Outgoing Mail Server: mail.lawrence.edu.  Check Use Authentication and enter network username and password.  Click Continue.
  7. (Outgoing mail security) Check Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).  Authentication: Password.  Click Continue.
    Click Continue

OS 10.3:

  1. Mail, Preferences, Accounts
  2. Click the Plus sign in lower left
  3. Account Type: IMAP, Description: Lawrence Email, Email Address, Full Name, Incoming Mail Server: mail.lawrence.edu, network username and password
  4. For Outgoing Mail Server, click the dropdown menu and click Add Server
  5. Outgoing Mail Server: mail.lawrence.edu, Server port: 587, check Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), Authentication: Password, Network username and password.  Click OK.
  6. Outgoing mail server should now say "mail.lawrence.edu:(your_username)"
  7. Click Advanced in the upper-right
  8. Check the Use SSL box.  Authentication should say Password.
  9. Close the Accounts window and Save.
