Uploading to iTunes U
NOTE on iTunes U access permissions
With our current implementation of iTunes U, we do not yet have a way to automatically limit access to an iTunes U course to enrolled students only. By default, an iTunes U course is created so that any Lawrence user can access all material in any course. We expect to be able to offer an option to limit access to enrolled students only by fall of 2007.
FACULTY: to upload content to iTunes U
- Visit http://itunes.lawrence.edu/
- Click “ Open Lawrence University on iTunes” and login with your LU account; iTunes will eventually launch.
- Click on your course title to enter your course.
- Click “Upload Files” on the Links block in upper right corner; your default web browser will open.
- Click “Add Tracks” link; wait a few seconds until the “Browse” button appears.
- Click the “Browse” button.
- Locate and select the MP3, MP4, or MOV file you wish to upload and click OK.
- Wait until the file is uploaded; the file will appear in the list when it has completed.
- Click “Return to iTunes” in upper right; if you need to refresh the list of tracks, click on your course number near the top of the iTunes window.
STUDENTS: to access a course’s podcast in iTunes
- Visit http://itunes.lawrence.edu/
- Click “ Open Lawrence University on iTunes” and login with your LU account; iTunes will eventually launch.
- Click on a course title to enter the course.
- The only reliable way to play iTunes U material is to download it. If you simply select a track and click the play button, the file will attempt to stream (play without downloading) and will continously start and stop. Use one of these two methods to download material:
- Click the Subscribe button next to the picture in the iTunes window to add the course to the “Podcasts” section of iTunes.
- Click the Get Song button to add material to the “Downloads” section of iTunes.
