Frequently-Asked Questions

Laboratory Use

Who can use the Humanities Computer Laboratory?

Faculty, staff, and students from any department at Lawrence can use the lab. It is open for general use weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday through Thursday evenings 7:00-10:00 p.m. unless it is reserved for a class or an event. While humanities classes have first priority, all divisions are welcome to reserve the Lab as needed. Student monitors are on duty these evenings. For more information on support, please click on the Operations link to the left.

How do I know if the lab is available?

The current weekly schedule of reservations is posted on the window to the left of the lab door. You can also contact the monitor on duty (x7254) to check on availability or our online schedule, which is maintained by senior student monitor, Nissa Syverson.

How can I reserve the lab?

Weekly and bi-weekly reservations for a given time slot are possible as are reservations for a one-time event. Use Meeting Maker to "invite" the "Humanities Lab Main Hall" resource to a meeting during the time you wish to reserve the lab. If you do not have Meeting Maker installed, please contact Arno Damerow (x6710). Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. Faculty and staff, moreover, can reserve the lab outside normal operating hours.

Laboratory Software

How can I get a new software program added to the lab?

Contact Arno Damerow (x6710) to add software to the lab. Software install requests should be made a term in advance, so that Information Technology Services has adequate time to install, test, and coordinate the new software with the specialized programs already in the lab.
