Humanities Computer Laboratory

Opened in 2000, the Humanities Computer Laboratory is located in the first floor of Main Hall. The lab contains two instructor computers, one Mac and one pc, that are connected to a ceiling-mounted projector. Twenty student machines (five macs and fifteen pcs), each of which is connected to the campus computing network, are available for individual use and classroom applications. The lab houses approximately 40 specialized software programs as well as a multi-region DVD player, VCR, and cassette player. In addition, the lab has video conversion equipment to transfer VHS video to digital format.

The laboratory has hosted several events, including a Mellon-funded, MITC-sponsored (Midwest Instructional Technology Center) symposium and workshop, "Teaching and Learning with Technology in the Humanities." Currently, the lab is providing technical support for various web-based electronic student portfolio projects in Education, Japanese, Music Education, and Spanish.
