To dub an iMovie project to the VHS deck
- Turn on the ADVC-100 (the small box on top of the VCR) and the
VCR.
- If possible, use the VCR remote control to make sure the VCR's
record speed is set to the desired setting. The "SP" tape speed
will give you the highest quality and will allow recording up to 2
hours on a standard VHS tape.
- Hit the Channel up or down button on the VCR until "L1" appears
- Press the silver button on the ADVC-100 until the blue light
next to "Digital In" lights up.
- Launch iMovie and open your iMovie project.
- Select iMovie->Preferences
- Check the "Play video through to camera" checkbox at the bottom
so that it is checked.
- Click OK.
- Load your blank VHS tape in the VCR (rewind the tape if
necessary or desired).
- Press the record button on the VCR.
- Click the Play button in iMovie.
- Your video should now be recording to the VHS deck.
- When your video finishes playing in iMovie, press the "Stop/Eject" button on the VCR.
- To verify that the tape recorded:
- Rewind the tape a bit.
- Set iMovie to Import mode as though you were going to capture
video.
- Press the silver button on the ADVC-100 until the blue light is
next to "Analog In".
- Press play on the VCR and you should see the video that you
recorded.
- Select iMovie->Preferences
- Uncheck the "Play video through to camera" checkbox at the
bottom so that it is unchecked to avoid performance problems for
other users.
