How to hook up the digital video camera to the VCR to record on VHS tape
- NOTE that with the current VCR, audio is only recorded on the left channel. When the VCR is upgraded to a stereo model, both left and right channels can be connected.
First, find a place to set up, keeping the following in
mind:
- you will need to be close to an AC outlet
- you will need a desk or table to set the VCR on
- Plug the extension cord into the outlet
- Set up the tripod
- Set the VCR on a table or desk and plug the connections in the
back as shown at right
- If you will be recording to a digital tape, insert the MiniDV
tape in the camera (see picture at bottom)
- Mount the camera on the tripod (be
careful, the portable tripod can easily tip over)
Attach the camera's AC cord and the camera's AV cable as
shown in the two pictures at right
- Turn on the VCR and insert a VHS tape
- Press the "Input" button the VCR remote until "L"
appears on the VCR display
- Set the video camera's mode to "Camera"
- Frame your shot with the camera using the W and T buttons on
top of the camera
To record on the digital tape, press the red button on the back
of the camera (press again to stop recording)
- To record on the VCR, push and hold the "Rec/Time" button and
press "Play"
- To insert a MiniDV tape in the camera, slide the Open/Eject
switch on the bottom of the camera, insert the tape as shown, and
push down on the black metal part of the compartment.
