WEB APPLICATION DEVELOPER

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Reports to:       Application Systems Manager

 

Location:          Office of Information Technology Services, Seeley G. Mudd Library

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Provide technical expertise and development services in support of the college Web presence.
  2. Work closely with members the Application Support team, primarily other Web Application Developers, and also with the university Web Content and New Media Coordinator to help maintain the content and page designs of the core Web site consistent with established university messages, positioning, and tone.
  3. Develop and/or implement Web applications and Web scripting components using a variety of languages, technologies, and techniques.
  4. Share with other Web Application Developers the responsibility for the maintenance and development of core pages within the university website and for other LU pages/sites as needed.
  5. Consult with and advise campus constituents who are responsible for Web content and design as needed.
  6. Collaborate with fellow members of the Application Support team within Information Technology Services to ensure that Web applications integrate appropriately with other business process applications and databases operated by the university.
  7. Supervise student Web developers as needed.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  1. A two year Associate’s degree in Web Development is required.  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
  2. Must have one to three years experience in web development including experience with PHP, Javascript, CSS, XML and SQL.  Experience with ASP.NET is a plus but not required.
  3. Experience managing technology projects including planning and delivering results.
