Location: Office of Information
Technology, Seeley G. Mudd Library
Primary Objective:
Provide technical support, analysis, and development
services to administrative offices. Modifies and helps configure the Banner
system as required by end-users. Modifies or develops Web-based self-service
applications layered on Banner and builds Web interfaces to the Banner database.
Develops reports and ad-hoc queries to address operating needs of end-users.
Provides support in the use of computer system hardware and software among
administrative users.
Duties:
- Design
and implement Banner software components such as reports, forms, database
packages, data marts, Web forms.
- Provide
administrative users with training, troubleshooting, and consulting
assistance in the use of Banner and other applications software.
- As
required, assist with the support of other Web applications used in
administration, teaching, and learning.
- Coordinate
with other IT staff regarding meeting and training schedules, special
projects, and other technical support activities.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Programming
expertise with relational database management systems, C and other third-
and fourth-generation programming tools, SQL, and database utilities.
- Programming
expertise with Unix or Linux operating system and utilities, third-party
ERP systems (preferably SCT Banner), Oracle database tools and utilities,
and Oracle Application Server.
- Knowledge
of computer user support issues and ability to convey computing concepts
effectively to non-technical users.
- Ability
to provide efficient and effective user assistance and instruct others in
the use of computer systems software and hardware.
- Knowledge
of computing in a multi-platform environment.
- Ability
to define project goals and work independently to complete projects while
adhering to the established schedule.
- Ability
to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability
to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other staff
members within IT and broadly within the college administration.
