RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
POSITION DESCRIPTION
REPORTS TO: Director of the Office of Research Administration
LOCATION: Mursell House
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
To assist the Director of the Office of Research Administration in collecting, analyzing, and reporting institutional data and processing requests for information from external agencies and groups. This includes assisting the director in the evaluation of a 3-year federally-funded campus-wide suicide prevention program at Lawrence University.
DUTIES:
- Assist in processing institutional data which includes collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and disseminating information
- Provide assistance to the director in writing grants, conducting research, and preparing and maintaining documentation for various grants
- Assist with all institutional review board activities
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of evaluation and assessment activities related to the Strategic Plan
- Create, monitor, and finalize web surveys
- Fulfill requests for data by the campus community
- Assist in the process for administering and analyzing Tenure, Promotion, and Reappointment reviews
- Gather data from campus community and peer schools for completion of dashboards, profiles, and fact books
- Collect and analyze suicide prevention data based on surveys (both paper and web-based), QPR trainings, focus groups, discussions occurring during meetings of key project committees, and other methods
- Take and transcribe minutes at meetings related to the suicide prevention program
- Share suicide prevention evaluation data with campus and local communities
- Collaborate with the Project Evaluator in writing evaluation and other project reports
- Conduct other duties as requested

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Master’s degree in social science or related discipline preferred
- Strong quantitative, analytical, research, and statistical skills
- Superior organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Excellent writing and communication skills
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have successful completion of criminal record check, driving record check (where applicable) and reference checks
SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS USED:
- 2010 Microsoft Office
- Statistical software (SPSS and other statistical software)
- Database and report programs (Banner and Hyperion)
- Web survey authoring and management programs
- Web content software (Wordpress and Dreamweaver)
This part time position will have the opportunity to add additional time working under a campus grant as a Program Evaluation Assistant continuing through December 2012.
