GENERAL MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

 

REPORTS TO:             Director of Facility Services

 

LOCATION:                Physical Plant Office with daily assignments in university buildings

 

 

PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE:

 

The General Maintenance Mechanic performs a wide variety of duties in electrical and general maintenance.

 

DUTIES:

 

1.                  Support HVAC, electrical, plumbing, heating, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

2.                  Complete assigned work orders in a professional manner and complete daily time sheets.

3.                  Must be available for occasional after hours, weekend, and call-in duties.

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

 

Will interact with all members of the Physical Plant staff and occupants of the various university buildings where work is being performed.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED:

                                   

1.         Ability to work with or without supervision.

2.         Ability to follow instructions and make decisions.

3.         Ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities in a busy campus setting.

4.         Ability to relate to faculty, staff and students.

5.         Adherence to safety policies and practices.

 

6.         Ability to perform work that is physically challenging including bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting, reaching, and climbing.

7.         Advanced training or experience in related trades a plus.

 

8.         Electrical Journeyman's License/Certification is required.
