POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

DIRECTOR OF THE LAWRENCE ACADEMY OF MUSIC

 

Lawrence University, Appleton, Wisconsin, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the Lawrence Academy of Music, the community music division of the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music. The Academy of Music enrolls approximately 1,900 students annually and has nine full-time and forty part-time instructors. The Director of the Academy of Music holds a twelve-month, full-time appointment and reports to the Dean of the Conservatory.

 

The Lawrence Academy of Music provides high quality musical instruction both for students who are preparing for careers in the arts and for those who enjoy study as part of a lifetime of arts appreciation. Students of all ages and levels of advancement enroll in a broad range of private instrumental and vocal instruction; large ensembles; classes in music theory and musicianship, chamber music, early childhood music, and continuing education for adults. The Academy of Music’s students are drawn from communities throughout Northeastern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.

 

Minimum qualifications include an appropriate degree, demonstrated musical accomplishment, a record of success as a teacher, and significant administrative experience, including budget management, preferably within a community music program.
