Larry Diamond

Larry Diamond is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and professor of political science and sociology at Stanford University.

Diamond is a specialist on democratic development and regime change and on U.S. foreign policy affecting democracy abroad. His current scholarly research examines comparative trends in the quality and stability of democracy in developing countries and post-communist states, public opinion in new democracies (especially in East Asia), and democratic development in Taiwan. He also writes and consults on U.S. international efforts to promote democracy abroad and on international development policies and programs. He is also the coordinator of the Democracy Program of the new Center for Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law at Stanford's Institute for International Studies.
