The 2004 Mojmir Povolny Lectureship in International Studies
This year's Mojmir Povolny Lectureship in International Studies is entitled "Democracy, Development, and Human Rights." A group of internationally acclaimed scholars will speak on democratic transitions and the challenges that fledgling democracies face with respect to protecting basic rights and generating sustainable economic growth.
The Mojmir Povolny Lectureship in International Studies brings scholars to the Lawrence campus to address crucial issues of the day. Speakers in recent programs have included John Mearsheimer, Robert Gilpin, Robert Pastor, Marshall Goldman, Ted Gurr, and Michael Doyle.
