The Keeweenaw Peninsula
– Joan Helen Walby

Two years ago (Spring 1998) Marcia's Petrology class took a field trip to the Keeweenaw peninsula. The second night that we were camping at Lake Fanny Hooe, it poured buckets, I mean buckets. We were going to make pasta at our campsite, but we ditched that and headed into town for a nice sit-down meal. We ended up crashing a wedding party at the restaurant - a bunch of wet rats in amongst the wedding guests. That night, we went back to our campsite, but didn't want to hit the hay just yet. All of us ended
up piling in the laundromat of the campground (about ten people inside a space the size of a dorm room). We pulled together our change, tossed our wet things in the dryer, and listened to Dave Baird and John Corkery play guitar tunes late into the evening. Not a bad way to spend a weekend! Rocks, socks, and good company.
