This lecture on Hiroshige: Visions of the Floating World, delivered at Lawrence University on February 25, 2004, was designed for students and faculty in the college's Freshman Studies program. Freshman Studies, a multidisciplinary introduction to the liberal arts, has been the cornerstone of the Lawrence curriculum for over fifty years. The lecturer, Michael Orr, is associate professor of art history at Lawrence. Professor Orr holds the M.A. and the Ph.D. from Cornell University and is a winner of Lawrence's Young Teacher Award.
