This lecture on Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart, delivered at Lawrence University on January 28, 2004, was designed for students and faculty in the college's Freshman Studies program. Freshman Studies, a multidisciplinary introduction to the liberal arts, has been the cornerstone of the Lawrence curriculum for over fifty years. The lecturer, Karen Hoffmann, is an assistant professor of English at Lawrence. Hoffmann is a Lawrence alumna and holds the M.A. and the Ph.D. from Indiana University.
