This lecture on Akira Kurosawa's Rashomon, delivered at Lawrence University on November 20, 2000, was designed for students and faculty in the college's Freshman Studies program. Freshman Studies, a multidisciplinary introduction to the liberal arts, has been the cornerstone of the Lawrence curriculum for over fifty years. The lecturer, Birgit Tautz Ramsey, is Assistant Professor of German at Lawrence. Professor Ramsey holds the Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and has taught courses in comparative literature and German film.
