This book is designed to help you through Freshman Studies. We hope you will read it now as an introduction to the course and come back to it later as you struggle through your various assignments. It contains brief discussions of the history, methods, and goals of the Freshman Program, some practical advice about a wide variety of matters - from preparing for your first class to taking your final exam - and a number of appendices elaborating on some of the main points. You will find the appendices particularly useful as a source of reference when you begin to undertake your writing assignments. Of course, not every point made in this book will apply to every student, every text, every instructor, or every assignment - but we hope, on the whole, that it will help you through some of the more difficult passages of Freshman Studies, as well as serve, as does the Freshman Program itself, as a starting point for the rest of your education.
