Students and Keys

Topics include key requests, lost keys, other key requests

Students who need access to campus buildings for academic, extra-curricular, or work-related reasons should complete a Student Key Authorization Form, available from the person authorizing the key request. The form must be signed by a department chair or administrator and then submitted to the locksmith for processing. (The locksmith's office is located in the lower level of Brokaw Hall.)

Students will be notified when the key is available for pickup at the cashier window in the Business Office. Keys must be returned to the cashier by the due date listed on the authorization form (or at the end of the term, if a due date isn't listed).

Lost Keys

A student who loses a Lawrence University key or fails to return one will be charged $50 per key. The charge will appear on the student's bill.

If a key is lost, the student should notify the faculty member/administrator who authorized the key request. The faculty member/administrator will contact the locksmith.

Other Key Requests

Room keys for residence halls and small houses are available from hall desk clerks. For more information, see the Student Handbook section on keys.

If a student needs access to a building with card access, a faculty member/administrator should work with Physical Plant for authorization.

Here's a brief description of the process:
