Student Employment Program Overview
The Lawrence University Student Employment Program includes both Federal Work-Study and Campus Employment.
- Federal Work-Study (FWS) - a federally funded program, encourages the part-time employment of students with "demonstrated need" (as determined by the FAFSA) to help pay for their education and to involve students in community service activities.
- Campus Employment - a program funded by Lawrence University, offers part-time employment to undergraduates to help defray their educational expenses.
Federal Work-Study and Campus Employment represent an opportunity for students to earn funds to assist them in meeting the cost of their education. The actual amount they receive depends on the number of hours you work each week and the hourly rate you are paid. You will be paid bi-weekly for the hours you work. You may use the money for living expenses, books, or apply it toward an outstanding balance on your Student Account. To have your earnings applied directly toward your Student Account, you must complete an Authorization for Payroll Deduction Form and return it to the Payroll Office located in Room 111 in Brokaw Hall.
Students who receive Federal Work-Study or Campus Employment as part of their financial aid have a demonstrated need for additional financial assistance. Although this will be considered during the hiring process, students who receive Federal Work-Study or Campus Employment are not guaranteed a position.
