Mary Blackwell, Associate Professor of Chemistry, is the winner of the 2000-01 Freshman Studies Teaching Award.
From the award citation: "Students consistently praise the excitement, enthusiasm, and intellectual curiosity she brings to the teaching of Freshman Studies and, indeed, suggest that they consider it a privilege to be in her Freshman Studies class. Especially impressive, and especially reflective of the Lawrence ideal, is the fact that a scientist is so successful at teaching a course comprised mostly of works in the humanities, social sciences, and fine arts."
