Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students:
Attached is an updated map of the SMOKE-FREE AREAS on campus. The map represents the areas designated smoke-free as of November 1, 2010. Please note that there is no smoking inside ANY Lawrence building- this map shows campus areas outside of our buildings that are smoke free. We ask for the cooperation of all members of the Lawrence Campus Community in refraining from smoking in the designated smoke-free areas and encouraging others to respect these zones. The hazards of smoking include serious health challenges from exposure to second hand smoke, so respecting these boundaries is vitally important, and our success in keeping these areas smoke free is a demonstration of our cohesiveness as a community of caring individuals.
As mentioned above, the interior s of all buildings are smoke free. With respect to outdoor areas, you will notice that the entire academic area of the campus is smoke free, as it has been since the summer of 2009. In addition, there are smoke free halos around ALL of the large residence halls, and many other residential areas. Also, in accordance with Wisconsin State Law, there is no smoking permitted within the boundaries of any outside athletic facility. Finally, there is no smoking on the Riverwalk.
Thank you for your consideration.
Regards.
Dave Burrows
