ANNOUNCEMENT OF TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION
DIRECTOR OF ORCHESTRAL STUDIES
STARTING SEPTEMBER 2012
RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct and administer all activities of the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra, including chamber orchestra, opera orchestra; classroom teaching in conducting, and the possibility of other teaching responsibilities, depending upon candidate’s interests and qualifications and institutional needs. Additional responsibilities include all service related activities associated with a tenure-track position including student advising, admissions-related responsibilities, recruiting, developing relationships with music educators, and participating in committee assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated excellence in orchestral conducting and teaching. Appropriate terminal degree or equivalent experience. A record of successful collegiate teaching experience preferred. Although this is a Conservatory position, an understanding and strong support of the ideals and goals of a broad liberal arts education is highly preferred.
RANK AND SALARY: Tenure-track. Rank and salary dependent upon qualifications and experience.
