ANNOUNCEMENT OF A TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION
IN INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC EDUCATION – DECEMBER, 2009
RESPONSIBILITIES: Shared responsibilities for the administration of the music education program, coordinate and teach Instrumental Music Education classes and curriculum, coordinate and supervise instrumental student teaching and pre-student teaching placements and practicum. Additional responsibilities include all service-related activities associated with a tenure-track position including academic student advising, admissions-related responsibilities, rotation of departmental chair responsibilities, rotation of advisor duties for CMENC student chapter, and participation in committee assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS: Terminal doctoral degree such as the DME or Ph.D. required. At least six years experience teaching Music Education at the college level desirable. In addition, preference will be given to candidates with at least five years experience teaching at the elementary or secondary level. Demonstrated teaching excellence in the classroom. Demonstrated organizational and leadership ability. Experience chairing or directing a Music Education program strongly preferred. Record of significant scholarly achievement in the area of music education. Experience in community engagement desirable. Collaborative and student-centered approach to communication required. Strong support of the ideals and goals of a broad liberal arts education is a must.
RANK AND SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
