The Didderich Prize in Creative Writing
This prize was established by friends and family of Alice S. Didderich in 1988. It recognizes and commemorates her devotion to her alma mater and her love of literature. It is awarded to an upperclass student whose performance in poetry or fiction writing has proven to be outstanding in the judgment of the faculty of the English department.

Hicks Prize in Fiction
This prize was established by John Hicks, editor of the Oshkosh Daily Northwestern, United States diplomat, and Lawrence trustee (1911-16). It is awarded for the best submitted short story.

The Tichenor Prize in English
This prize was donated in 1888 by Charles Orlando Tichenor, who graduated from Lawrence in 1862 and served as an attorney in the Civil War. It is awarded to the student with the best critical essay in English literature.
