What can you do with an English major?  Anything you want, really.

English majors can succeed in any field that values the skills of reading carefully and writing well.  Recent graduates have gone on to careers in law and business, education and journalism.  Here’s a partial list of their employers:

• Teach for America
• The Minneapolis Institute of Arts
• ABC News
• Green Bay Packers, public relations department
• Epic Systems, Madison, WI

Other students have pursued graduate degrees in literary studies, earning M.A. or Ph.D. degrees from such institutions as:

• Indiana University
• University of Illinois
• Rutgers University
• University of California, Berkeley
• University of Chicago

Some students have also pursued graduate study in creative writing, working toward an M.F.A. in poetry, fiction, or nonfiction writing.  They have studied in the following programs:
