ID Card
New students receive their Lawrence University I.D. card during new student week orientation. Only you can use your Lawrence University I.D. card! So treat it carefully and wisely.
How it works:
The major components of your LU I.D. card are:
- Your name, classification and five digit Lawrence University I.D. number
- Your identifying photograph
- Bar code for material check out at the Library
- Magnetic strip encoded with your personal information to run through card "readers" on campus
Where can you use your Lawrence University I.D. card?
Your card can be used at any of the following LU facilities:
- For meal plan meals at Downer Commons and Lucinda's. You may also purchase a meal at either facility
using your Viking Gold debit account.
- At the Union Grill, you may use your Viking Gold account.
- For purchases at the Union Station Convenience Store. Your Viking Gold debit account can be used here.
- The Underground Coffeehouse accepts Viking Gold account money.
- The Seeley G. Mudd Library to check out materials.
- Buchanan Kiewit Center to use facilities.
- Laundry facilities
- Select vending machines on campus
- Local businesses for discounts
What is a Viking Gold Account?
Security and Convenience
Your Lawrence University Identification Card is much like a credit card.
If your card is lost or stolen it can be deactivated immediately! For your personal security, report all missing or lost I.D. cards as soon as possible to the I.D. Office. Call ext. 6654 between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm Monday
through Friday, or leave a voice mail message to report your missing card. A temporary meal pass may be issued until a new card is obtained for the next 24 hours.
Any lost or damaged card will be replaced with a fee of $20.00.
Fast and Easy to Use
- Present your card to the checker or cashier.
- The card is run through a "reader" that automatically deducts a meal or amount of your purchases.
- Your new balance is electronically displayed on the card reader.
Protect and Care for Your Card
Take good care of your card because it is yours to use throughout the entire length of your stay at Lawrence University.
- Do NOT punch holes in the card
- Do NOT bend, fold, expose your card to excessive heat, wash or otherwise mutilate your card.
- Do NOT expose your card to magnetic fields such as T.V.'s, magnets, stereos, etc.
- Do NOT pass your card through any other system, such as Automatic Bank Tellers, or it may become demagnetized.
Cards are not transferable.
