Banner Security Policy
Policy Statement
This policy pertains to the access of data in the Banner
database which is the source for the majority of the administrative data for the
college.
Security to the Banner applications is approved through the Director of
Administrative System Management.
Procedures
- When
implementing a Banner module, Information Technology Services works with each user
department to group applicable screens into groups referred to as
"classes".
- Users
are given read or update access to certain "classes" based upon their
job functions.
- Replacement
personnel may be granted any classes already available to personnel in the
department which they are joining.
- Classes
not available to a department but requested must get approval from the
Director of Administrative System Management.
- Controversial
access issues such as the interpretation of FERPA are to be resolved by the
Director of Administrative System Management
