Molitor named MWC Defensive Player of the Week

APPLETON, WIS. - Appleton native Ty Molitor was named Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week after he helped the Lawrence University football team beat to a 14-13 victory over Carroll College last Saturday. Molitor, a senior defensive back, intercepted three passes, had one tackle, and one pass defensed in Lawrence's victory.

The former Appleton North High School star intercepted his first pass of the game in the second quarter. Molitor's interception in the end zone ended a Carroll drive with the Vikings holding a 7-0 lead. The Pioneers were in Lawrence territory again in the third quarter when Molitor picked off a pass at the Vikings' 31-yard line to stymie another scoring attempt. Molitor's final interception came with 2:27 left in the game at the Lawrence 27, and it helped preserve the Vikings' victory.

Lawrence (1-6, 1-5 MWC) is back in action Saturday at the Banta Bowl when it faces Monmouth College (1-6, 1-5) at 1:30 p.m.
