APPLETON, Wis. -- Three Lawrence University women's soccer players have been chosen for the All-Midwest Conference team.
Sophomore forward Mallory Koula (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) was chosen for the first team, and junior forward Sarah Ehlinger (Wauwatosa, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) and junior defender Jordan Holmes (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) were both chosen for the second team.
Koula, who was a three-time MWC Offensive Player of the Week, finished the season with 24 goals and seven assists for 55 points. The 24 goals is the second-highest season total in Lawrence history, ranking behind only Libby Mullin's 30-goal season in 1986. Koula's 55 points also ranks as the second-highest season total in school history. Mullin holds the record with 67 in 1986.
Koula tallied 10 goals and three assists fo 23 points in conference play.
Ehlinger, who was named a MWC Offensive Player of the Week, was chosen for the all-conference team for the third consecutive season. She was a second-team pick in 2007 and 2008. Ehlinger had three goals and two assists for eight points in conference play. She finished the season with 10 goals and six assists for 26 points.
Holmes was named to the all-conference team for the first time in her career. Holmes, who was named a MWC Defensive Player of the Week during the season, led the defensive unit that allowed 2.33 goals per game in conference play and 1.76 on the season. Holmes had one goal and one assist in league play and finished the season with two goals and four assists.
Lawrence finished fourth in the conference with a 5-4-0 record and went 11-7-0 overall. The Vikings qualified for the four-team MWC Tournament for the first time since 2002.
