APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University women's soccer standout Sarah Ehlinger was named the Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Ehlinger (Wauwatosa, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels), a junior forward, earned the honor after scoring a pair of goals in Lawrence's 3-0 victory over Ripon College in the regular-season finale. This was the first time Ehlinger has earned the weekly honor from the conference.
Ehlinger scored in the 40th minute and again in the 77th minute to stake Lawrence to a 2-0 lead. Ehlinger now has 10 goals for the season and 28 for her career, which moved her into fifth place on the Lawrence career list. She also ranks fifth with 69 career points.
The victory propelled Lawrence into the four-team MWC Tournament for the first time since 2002. Lawrence also increased its unbeaten streak against Ripon to 12 games (11-0-1).
Lawrence faces top-seed Carroll University in the semifinals of the MWC Tournament Friday at 7 p.m. at Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis. The semifinal winners meet Saturday at 7 p.m. for the tournament championship and an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
