APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University women's soccer star Mallory Koula has been named the Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Koula (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly), a sophomore forward, was chosen after she scored four goals and picked up an assist in Lawrence's two wins this past weekend.
In Lawrence's 3-1 victory over Grinnell on Oct. 10, Koula scored the goal that tied the game at 1-1 and then assisted on what proved to be the game-winning goal. It was Lawrence's first win over the Pioneers since the 2001 MWC Tournament semifinals.
Koula then picked up her third hat trick of the season in a 4-0 victory over Knox on Oct. 11. Koula had a natural hat trick as she scored three consecutive goals in a span of 21 minutes in the first half. Koula's offensive outburst helped Lawrence improve to 16-0 all-time against Knox, and the Vikings have now shut out the Prairie Fire for five consecutive matches.
Koula now has 16 goals, four assists and 36 points on the season. She leads the league in goals and points per game.
Lawrence, which improved to 7-4-0 with the two wins this past weekend, host Mount Mary College in a nonconference match on Wednesday.
