Dekker earns All-Midwest Conference honors

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University men's basketball star John Dekker has been chosen for the All-Midwest Conference team.

Dekker (Sheboygan, Wis./Lutheran), a senior forward, was a second-team selection in a vote by league coaches.

Dekker averaged 21.5 points per game on the season and broke the Lawrence scoring average record in the process. The previous mark of 20.7 points per game was set by Matt Miota in 1989-90.

Dekker finished the season with 494 points, which broke the Lawrence season record of 488 set by Adam LaVoy in 1999-2000. Dekker also set school records for 3-pointers made (75) and attempted (186).

Dekker also averaged 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 42.4 percent from the floor, including 40.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 71.2 percent from the foul line.

In league play, Dekker averaged 21.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. He shot 42.9 percent from the floor, 40.7 percent on 3-pointers and 71.8 percent from the foul line.

Lawrence finished the season with an 11-12 record, including an 8-8 mark in conference play.
