APPLETON, Wis. -- Four Lawrence University football players have been selected for the All-Midwest Conference team.
Craig Ebert was a first-team selection, and Matt Hintz, Brian Janssen, and Sam Laes all received honorable mention.
Ebert, a senior running back from New London, Wis., led the Midwest Conference in rushing at 89.9 yards per game. The former star at New London High School ran 181 times for 899 yards for a healthy 5.0-yard average. He also scored two rushing touchdowns.
Ebert, who was named to the all-conference team for the first time in his career, was second on the team in receiving. He caught 36 passes for 334 yards and four touchdowns.
A junior tight end from Chilton, Wis., Hintz earned all-conference honors for the first time in his career. Hintz, a former standout at Chilton High School who also played a key role blocking in the Lawrence run game, caught 20 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns.
Janssen, a native of Green Bay, Wis., and former star at Ashwaubenon High School, earned his first mention on the all-conference team. The junior linebacker led the Vikings with 72 tackles and had 11 tackles for loss. He recorded three pass breakups, recovered one fumble, and forced one fumble.
Laes, also a Green Bay, Wis., native and former standout at Ashwaubenon High School, was named to the all-conference team for the first time. Laes, a senior safety, piled up 54 tackles and led the team with four interceptions. Laes also recorded three pass breakups.
The Vikings finished the season with a 1-9 record, 0-9 in conference play.
