Three Vikings selected for All-MWC men's soccer squad

APPLETON, Wis. -- Three Lawrence University men's soccer players have been chosen for the All-Midwest Conference team.

Defender Nico Walker was a first-team selection, and midfielders Nick Dufficy and Tristan Lipe made the second team.

Walker, a junior from Ashland, Ore., was named to the all-conference team for the second consecutive season. Walker was a second-team pick in 2007. Walker was the key to the Lawrence defense all season, with consistent and sometimes spectacular play. Walker, a standout at Ashland High School, helped the Vikings become one of four teams to qualify for the Midwest Conference Tournament.

Dufficy, a senior from Skokie, Ill., and former standout at Niles North High School, made the all-conference team for the second time in his career. A first-team selection in 2005, Dufficy posted three assists on the season.

A native of Naperville, Ill., Lipe was named to the all-conference team for the first time in his career. The former star at Naperville North High School led the Vikings with six goals. He also had one assist and a team-high 13 points.

Lawrence posted a 6-12-1 record on the season, but the Vikings went 5-3-1 in Midwest Conference play, good for a fourth-place finish in the league.
