APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University's Ben DiMarco was named the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Freshman of the Week after lifting the Vikings to a big win this past Saturday.
DiMarco, a forward from Galveston, Texas, gave the Vikings a 1-0 victory over the Milwaukee School of Engineering when he scored with eight seconds left in regulation.
DiMarco's first collegiate goal came when he picked off a MSOE turnover in the neutral zone, zoomed away from the defense, and beat MSOE goaltender Connor Toomey. DiMarco also had an assist in Lawrence's 2-1 loss at MSOE last Friday.
DiMarco played for the Laconia Leafs before coming to Lawrence and is a graduate of Ball High School.
Lawrence returns to action this weekend when it hosts the University of Minnesota-Crookston in a two-game MCHA series.
