APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University volleyball standout Melissa Schnettler has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.
A junior from Neenah, Wis., Schnettler earned the honor after leading the Vikings to an upset of UW-Stevens Point at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational and being named to the all-tournament team.
A former standout at Appleton Xavier High School, Schnettler had a big weekend at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational. Schnettler had 18 kills to lead the Vikings past UW-Stevens Point 25-22, 18-25, 16-25, 25-10, 15-7, for Lawrence's second win of the season. For the week, Schnettler had 60 kills in five matches and a .158 hitting percentage. She added 35 digs, three blocks, three assists, and two aces.
On the season, Schnettler leads the team in kills (206) and kills per game (2.48).
The Vikings return to action on Saturday when they take on Lake Forest College and Edgewood College at Alexander Gymnasium.
