APPLETON, Wis. -- Wes Otte and Aaron Leitner led Lawrence University's four selections to the All-Midwest Conference North Division baseball team.
Otte (Appleton, Wis./East) and Leitner (Chilton, Wis./Chilton) were both selected for the first team in a vote by league coaches. Seniors Jordan Clark (Omro, Wis./Omro) and Frank Forseth (Oshkosh, Wis./West) were both chosen for the second team.
Otte, a junior centerfielder, was named to the all-conference team for the first time. Otte batted .426 in league play and that ranked fifth among North Division players. He had four doubles, a triple, two homers, and 15 runs batted in in 14 games. Otte ranked third in the conference in slugging percentage at .648 and was third with a .523 on-base percentage. He tied for first in the league with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
On the season, Otte batted .350 with six doubles, two triples, two homers, and 24 RBIs. He also swiped 13 bases in 15 attempts.
Leitner, a freshman left-handed pitcher, finished with a 2-2 record and a 2.78 earned run average in conference play. He struck out 21 and walked 12 in 35.2 innings. Leitner finished the season with a 5-3 mark and a 2.78 ERA. Leitner, who led the team with 55 innings pitched, struck out 34 and walked 17. Leitner picked up his first collegiate shutout, allowing only four hits, in a 1-0 win over Grinnell College.
Clark, a senior shortstop, made the all-conference team for the second time. He also earned second-team honors in 2006. Clark hit .319 in conference play, with a league-high eight doubles, one triple, and 14 RBIs. Clark ranked second in the league with 55 assists and finished with a .963 fielding percentage.
On the season, Clark hit .339 with 11 doubles, one triple, and 20 RBIs.
Forseth, a senior utility player, was chosen for the all-conference team for the first time. As a pitcher, Forseth posted a 2-2 record with two saves and a 5.74 ERA in conference play. Forseth struck out 24 and walked 11 in 31.1 innings. Playing multiple positions on the infield and occasionally seeing time in the outfield, Forseth hit .265 with three doubles, a triple, and six RBIs.
On the season, Forseth went 4-2 with three saves and a 3.88 ERA. He struck out 36 and walked 13 in 48.2 innings. Forseth hit .274 with six doubles, a triple, and nine RBIs.
Lawrence finished with a 12-20 record and finished fourth in the North Division.
