Lawrence's Reichel chosen for academic all-district team

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University softball standout Jenna Reichel has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 Team.

Reichel (Madison Lake, Minn./Mankato East), a four-year starter at third base for the Vikings, was a second-team selection in a vote by the College Sports Information Directors of America. A biology and chemistry major, Reichel has an impressive 3.89 grade point average.

Batting at the top of the Lawrence order, Reichel hit .312 this season with a .418 on-base percentage. She scored 22 runs, drove in three, and was 6-for-6 on stolen-base attempts. Reichel, a three-time All-Midwest Conference selection, finished with a .385 batting average in league play.

A team captain, Reichel has been on the Dean's List at Lawrence all four years. A three-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar All-American, Reichel has also been named to Mortar Board, Lawrence's senior honor society. Reichel also will earn the maximum of three Academic All-Midwest Conference selections.

This marks the second consecutive year Lawrence has had a player chosen for the team. Catherine Marinac was selected in 2008.
