APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University baseball standout West Otte has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week after torrid six games at the plate.
Otte (Appleton, Wis./East) hit .609 in six games this past week, and Lawrence posted a 5-1 mark in those contests. Otte went 14-for-23 with four doubles, a homer, and 16 runs batted in. He put together a .679 on-base percentage and .913 slugging percentage.
The junior centerfielder also went 4-for-4 on stolen bases and handled all 13 chances in the field flawlessly.
Otte's biggest game of the week was in Lawrence's 11-5 victory at Carroll University this past Saturday, when he went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a homer, and five runs batted in. Otte drove in four runs in one game earlier in the week as he went 2-for-4 with a double in the second game of a doubleheader sweep of Finlandia University.
Otte is now second on the team with a .368 batting average and is second on the squad with 20 RBIs.
Lawrence returns to action on Thursday when it travels to Beloit College for a Midwest Conference doubleheader.
