APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University men's basketball star Ryan Kroeger has been named to the D3hoops.com All-America team.
Kroeger, a senior guard from Glendale, Wis., and former star at Nicolet High School, received honorable mention.
Kroeger, who was named to the All-Midwest Region team by D3hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball Coaches for the second straight year, averaged 17.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 53.1 percent from the floor. Kroeger hit on 40.8 percent of his 3-pointers and shot 75.8 percent from the foul line.
A three-time All-Midwest Conference selection, Kroeger also averaged 3.6 assists per game and had a sparkling 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio.
The Midwest Conference Player of the Year in 2008 and 2009, Kroeger finished his career third on Lawrence's career scoring list with 1,537 points. He finished just 28 points shy of tying Chris Braier's career record of 1,565.
This is Kroeger's first All-America selection, and he is only the second Lawrence player to be named an All-American. Braier was chosen for the D3hoops.com team three times (2004, 2005, 2006), including a first-team selection as a senior.
Kroeger, who was named a preseason first-team All-American by the Sporting News, led the Vikings to their second consecutive Midwest Conference and MWC Tournament titles in 2008-09. The Vikings, who have won five of the last six conference championships, also qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third time in Kroeger's career.
