APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University men's basketball star Ryan Kroeger has been named to the All-Midwest Region team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and D3hoops.com for the second consecutive season.
A senior guard from Glendale, Wis., Kroeger was a first-team selection by the NABC and a second-team pick by D3hoops.com. The former star at Nicolet High School was a first-team pick by both the NABC and D3hoops.com in 2008.
Kroeger, who was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Year for the second straight year, averaged 17.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 53.1 percent from the floor. Kroeger hit on 40.8 percent of his 3-pointers and shot 75.8 percent from the foul line.
Kroeger finished his career third on Lawrence's career scoring list with 1,537 points. He finished just 28 points shy of tying Chris Braier's career record of 1,565.
A three-time All-Midwest Conference selection, Kroeger also averaged 3.6 assists per game and had a sparkling 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Kroeger led the Vikings to their second consecutive Midwest Conference and MWC Tournament titles in 2008-09. The Vikings, who have won five of the last six conference championships, also qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third time in Kroeger's career.
In addition to the all-region honors, Kroeger was named a preseason first-team All-American by the Sporting News.
