APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University had eight players receive awards from the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association during ceremonies at the Harris Cup finals this past weekend.
Forward Nick Jennette and goaltender Evan Johnson were named to the all-conference team, and defenseman Jameson Raymond was chosen for the all-freshmen team.
Jennette, a senior from Grand Rapids, Mich., was named to the all-conference team for the first time. Jennette finished the season with 14 goals and 10 assists for 28 points. He finished ninth in the conference at 1.10 points per game, was eighth at 0.50 goals per game, and 13th at 0.60 assists per game. Jennette, who tied the Lawrence records for career goals (48) and points (103), finished second in the league with three game-winning goals.
Johnson, a sophomore from Suwanee, Ga., also was named to the all-conference team for the first time. Johnson finished second in the league with a 1.50 goals against average and a .938 save percentage. He compiled an 11-4-1 record in conference games. On the season, Johnson was 13-9-1 and led the nation with seven shutouts. He had a 2.11 goals against average and a .918 save percentage.
Raymond, a native of Flint, Mich., was the highest scoring defenseman on the team. In MCHA play, Raymond had four goals and 10 assists for 14 points. He ranked sixth in the league in both freshman scoring and defenseman scoring at 0.70 points per game.
Five players were chosen for the academic all-conference team. Seniors Jesse Jacobs and Aaron LaFave, juniors Billy Siers and Jon Sacks, and sophomore Matt Jacobs were all selected. Jacobs, a native of Pacifica, Calif., is a biology major. LaFave, who hails from Centerville, Ohio, is a philosophy and economics major. A native of Mount Prospect, Ill., is an economics major. Sacks, who is from Cherry Hill, N.J., is a history major. Assistant captain Matt Jacobs, who is from East Northport, N.Y., is a biology major.
Lawrence finished with a 16-11-1 record and finished second in the MCHA standings.
