MONMOUTH, Ill. -- Madeline Steininger won the high jump and placed in two more events to lead the Lawrence University track teams at this weekend's Midwest Conference Championships at Monmouth College.
The Lawrence women finished fifth in the team standings with 49 points, and Monmouth won the title with 195. The Lawrence men were ninth with nine points, and Monmouth won the title with 149.
Steininger won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 1.25 inches. She also placed fourth on the long jump at 16-7.25 and fourth in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.17 seconds.
Marva Goodson also placed in three events for the Vikings. She took second in the long jump at 17-8, was third in the 55 meters in 7.51 seconds, and grabbed sixth in the 200 meters in 26.76 seconds.
The other other placewinner for the Lawrence women was Tatiana Bulat, who took eighth in the triple jump at 32-7.5. Lawrence placed in three relays, taking fourth in the 800 relay, fifth in the distance medley, and seventh in the sprint medley.
On the men's side, Lucas Below's seventh-place finish in the pole vault (12-0.75) paced the Vikings. Rob Lawson was eighth in the shot put (45-8.5) and Mark Sprtel was eighth in the 800 (2:05.10).
The Vikings placed in three relays, taking seventh in the 1,600 relay, seventh in the distance medley, and eighth in the 800 relay.
